Why does PICS do research?

PICS is involved in research to test the usefulness of the products developed to help people change behaviors and improve their health. PICS expends considerable time and effort to research the effectiveness of our products. Much of this research is performed at PICS by the research staff but some of this research is contracted out to various research institutions in the U.S. This research effort not only assures the effectiveness of the products developed, but also provides information to the scientific community on effective treatments to prevent conditions such as cancer and heart attacks.

What is the quality of this research?

Our research is supported primarily by Small Business Innovation Research grants from the National Institutes of Health. For each study funded, PICS submitted a detailed research plan which was reviewed by experts in the area of study and found to be scientifically sound. The research completed by PICS has been presented at numerous national scientific meetings and published in scientific journals.
